Interface Arts recently exhibited at Richmond Station, North Yorkshire. The converted station building is a very nice space in which to exhibit and I am looking forward to holding my solo show "Heritage Recovered" there next year. This will be a development from my final major project for my textiles degree which has now been completed and submitted for assessment. The project is based around representations of artworks which are not available to the public as they may have been destroyed, lost, sold, stolen or put into protective storage during times of conflict. I now have a year to complete this project. Updates will be posted here.
Update - 22/11/2016
I have renamed this exhibition Heritage Uncovered to reflect the issues of the current moment. Many of the artefacts examined for the project were stored in the Museum in Aleppo and although many of these have been moved to safer locations, other heritage such as the Triumphal Arch at Palmyra have been destroyed. The title therefore is for the viewer to uncover the amazingly rich heritage of Syria rather than to reconcile the unpacked artefacts ready to go on display again.
